The question of the conditio humana must be posed anew today under the conditions of the almost fantastic dimensions of the media-technological disruption caused by artificial intelligence processes. In order to be able to question the anthropological difference in a meaningful way, however, the imaginations and figurations of the arts are also required. This volume approaches artistic reflections on artificial humans and human-like machines against the backdrop of the increasing use of humanoids in our living environment. Scholars from the disciplines of German studies, media studies, philosophy and sociology analyse figurations and narratives of human-robot interaction in novels and films.
