Until today, the creation texts in Genesis influence the human world-relationships in a very strong manner: the relationship to inanimate creation, the common orogin with animals, and above all the relationship between the sexes: creationists and genderists refer to these texts, struggling against evolution concepts and gender equality. This article delves into the dimensions of possible interpretations of the Hebrew text and shows its connectivity to our western gender democracies – if it is not read in fundamentalist ways.
