Synopsis
What was still a worrisome question in the 20th century – consciousness-altering artistic activities – has become a vehement demand placed on contemporary art in the 21st century. Processes of transformation can become effective through sharing, provided art does not remain confined to self-referential boundaries but interacts with every sphere of social life. A sense of responsibility can be traced as a driving force throughout Weissenberger's work. His transformative concept of art evolves from an inner vision of the “truly good life”, moving from creating living spaces and drawings to eco-social art projects with the ArtEmbassy Collective. Guided by the credo of sustainable development: „I am the Earth. We are the World. Through our actions”, Weissenberger develops national and international projects addressing global issues of our time – peace, freedom, and fraternity. Through his signals, the artist commits to the active continuation of Josef Beuys' concept of “Social Sculpture” and Michelangelo Pistoletto's symbol, “The Third Paradise”.
