Synopsis
In 2014, the Vienna University of Economics and Business received a donation of the literary estates of two eminent Austrian economists, Kurt W. Rothschild and Josef Steindl. The WU University Library examined, arranged and digitized the materials and prepared them for online use with the software package Goobi. In this paper, we will introduce the composition of the estates as well as demonstrate their significance for research in the fields of economics and contemporary history. Subsequently, we will illustrate the processing and curation of these estates with particular focus on the digitization process including the choice and technical implementation of the software. Moreover, we will discuss legal aspects and strategic considerations for digital special collections.
