Synopsis
The future of librarian training is characterised by far-reaching changes in the job profile and the increasing importance of new information technologies. Traditional tasks such as managing book collections and supporting readers remain important, but the requirements have expanded significantly. Education and training must adapt to these new circumstances in order to prepare librarians for their future tasks.
The article provides an overview of the training programmes offered by academic libraries in Austria and focuses primarily on the preparatory work for the new curriculum (2024).
