Synopsis
The establishment of research data management (FDM) in academic libraries, which is now also firmly anchored in the curriculum of library education and training, has numerous different effects, not least on the self-image of librarians. The fields of activity in the area of FDM are not only difficult to delineate from one another, but are also tense and variable depending on the environment. FDM staff often work in intermediate areas, for example between repository management and IT, between researchers and archivists, between data stewards and data librarians, within a large network or as individuals. This makes ongoing training necessary. At the same time, the establishment of data stewards and data champions results in new interfaces and possibly also specialisations.
