According to Huizinga's cultural anthropological argument in Homo Ludens, all human self-awareness, including cultural systems such as law, science, politics and religion, is rooted in play. In an era of accelerated technological change, forward-looking research methods are becoming increasingly important. In particular, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping public communication and opinion formation is coming into focus, not least from democratic, legal and social perspectives. The 'Serious Game AI' project, funded by the Zukunftsfonds Steiermark (Styria Future Fund), aims to break new ground by communicating an understanding of democracy through the use of AI in the media landscape, and to use this to teach AI and media literacy.
