Synopsis
Integrating sustainability into the early stages of the Product Development Process (PDP) is crucial for creating environmentally, economically, and socially responsible products. This paper introduces a scalable methodology for sustainable product development, applied to a speed-pedelec case study. The framework uses intermediate variables to connect component-level design with product-level indicators. Seamlessly integrating into existing PDPs, the methodology supports iterative refinement as data evolves. A case study demonstrates improvements in range, efficiency, and repairability, validated through a reduced-order Bill of Materials.
