Synopsis
The ARTE project explores highly automated railway operation scenarios where no onboard operating personnel are required. Automation addresses challenges such as train delays and cancellations caused by staff shortages, improving customer satisfaction and reducing operator penalties. Additionally, automation promises increased train frequency, more reliable night services, and lower operating costs through better infrastructure utilization. To ensure market adoption, the project developed a target cost-based approach.
