Synopsis
This study addresses the need for circular and sustainable value chains in the bicycle industry by proposing the first structured Digital Product Passport (DPP) framework for aluminum bicycle frames. Based on stakeholder mapping, a systematic literature review, and expert interviews, the framework includes 62 data points across four categories: frame specifications, diagnostics and maintenance, sustainability and circularity, and value chain actors. Four use cases demonstrate how DPPs can enhance transparency, lifecycle management, and circularity. The study provides actionable insights for stakeholders, supporting the adoption of DPPs to accelerate the transition to a circular economy.
