Synopsis
The alchemical laboratory of Oberstockstall was located in the part of the building of Gut Oberstockstall called “Kasten”, a representative early 14th century residential building to which a an early gothic chapel is connected, dating back to the time around 1300. This “Kasten” was transformed into a granary towards the end of the 16th century. This short paper describes the “Kasten” building in the light of its alchemical use as a laboratory from the perspective of building research.
