Synopsis

The history of the Commission for Training and Further Education is closely connected with the development of academic librarianship in Austria. Until 2004, it was not only responsible for the conception of the methodological design of the training guidelines for academic librarians in Austria, but also for the continuous adaptation process to the technological conditions in order to take into account the medium and long-term developments in the national and international information sector. In addition, it represents a discussion forum for all those interested in education and training and all stakeholders of the national related training tracks.

Author Biography

Gabriele Pum, Österreichische Nationalbibliothek

Gabriele Pum arbeitet seit 1985 in der Ausbildungsabteilung, seit 1987 Leiterin der Ausbildungsabteilung der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek und Stellvertretung der Ausbildungsleiterin für die Verwendungsgruppen A, B, C und D – Bibliotheks-, Dokumentations- und Informationsdienst; ab 2004 organisatorische Ausbildungsleiterin an der Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek und Mitglied der Prüfungskommission des Universitätslehrganges Library and Information Studies; ab 2005 Vorsitzende der Prüfungskommission für die Lehrlingsausbildung Archiv-, Bibliotheks- und InformationsassistentInnen; Mitglied der ARGE der Ausbildungsverantwortlichen Österreichs für die einheitliche Ausbildung des wissenschaftlichen Bibliothekspersonals an Universitätsbibliotheken; seit 1993 Vorsitzende der Kommission für Aus- und Fortbildung der Vereinigung Österreichischer Bibliothekarinnen und Bibliothekare; seit 2011 Mitglied der VÖB-Ehrenkommission.
